Sheffield business organisation welcomes Canadian company boss to its board

A Sheffield business organisation has welcomed five new members to its board of directors – including one running a firm in Canada.

The new non-executive directors will joining the board of Sheffield Chamber in March.

Faaiza Ramji is principal of OnPurpose, a marketing strategy firm based in Edmonton, Canada. Faaiza is understood to be the chamber’s first non-executive director from overseas in its 164-year history.

The business leaders will help drive forward the new vision for the chamber and ensure it becomes more representative of the diversity of the city’s business community.

From the digital sector, Emma Marshall is operations director of 3Squared Ltd and Dan Kirkland is co-founder and director of Tribepad.

The chamber also welcomes James Berry, partner at Freeths LLP, and Martin McKervey, director of AESSEAL plc and Vulcan Engineering Ltd.

Chamber president Matt Jackson said: “Our new directors bring a diverse range of skills, from a wide range of industries, with the digital sector now being represented at board level for the first time with Dan Kirkland from Tribepad and Emma Marshall from 3Squared.

"It’s the first time we also welcome someone from overseas in Faaiza Ramji. Sheffield is a global city and the chamber wanted to ensure our board has a global outlook and benefits from insight from overseas.”

Interim executive director Louisa Harrison-Walker said: “I look forward to welcoming Dan, Emma, Faaiza, Martin and James to their first meeting in March which will now take place across seven time zones.”​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

James Needham, non-executive director and board chair, added: “The board have been delighted with the calibre of the candidates who applied for NED roles with the chamber.

“The whole recruitment process has only added to our resolve to drive the chamber forward and represent our members and the region to the best of our ability.”
