Sheffield boy injured in racist street attack and rushed to hospital

A teenage boy was hospitalised after a racist attack in a Sheffield street.

The 15-year-old is said to have been injured in an attack with snowballs in an incident on Southey Road, Southey, between 6pm and 7pm on Tuesday, February 5.

South Yorkshire Police said the incident was reported as ‘racially aggravated’.

The force said: “Officers are investigating reports of a racially aggravated assault that is reported to have happened on Southey Road in Sheffield.

“On February 2, between 6pm and 7pm, it is believed that a 15 year-old boy sustained injuries in an assault that is alleged to be racially aggravated

“The boy has received hospital treatment for his injuries and enquiries are continuing to identify those involved.”

The day before, a 15-year-old boy was stabbed in Southey.

He was ambushed by three men as he walked from Wordsworth Crescent towards Dryden Road.

The teen suffered puncture wounds to his arm and leg in the stabbing, which is being treated as a targeted attack.
