Sam Hutchinson set for Sheffield Wednesday medical

Sam Hutchinson has been linked with a return to Sheffield Wednesday for some time, and it looks as though things are progressing.

The Star understands that reports from Sky Sports journalist, Lyall Thomas, that the midfielder is set to undergo a medical with the Owls today are correct, suggesting that the 31-year-old is drawing closer to a Hillsborough return.

Hutchinson left Wednesday at the end of last season after a lengthy spell in Sheffield, and ended up signing for Pafos FC in Cyprus as he ventured outside of the country.

When Tony Pulis took over, however, he made mention of how Wednesday were missing a player of Hutchinson’s calibre, and then late last year it was confirmed that his contract in Cyprus has been terminated by mutual consent.

It remains to be seen at this stage how close a deal may be to conclusion, but it is thought that he will be undergoing medical examinations ahead of a potential move before the month is out.
