Attercliffe Hall Wesleyan Youth Club probably in the 1950s

Sheffield's youth clubs from the 1950s through to early 2000s brought back to life

Today’s gallery of photographs takes you back down memory lane to youth clubs in and around Sheffield from the 1950s through to the early 2000s

Take a look at pictures from Meynell Road Youth Club, Burngreave Youth Club, Woodthorpe Youth Club and many more.

I remember when I was younger, PJ & Duncan hit the charts with ‘Let’s Get Ready to Rumble’, East 17’s ‘Stay Another Day’ was the emotional smash hit that had people singing in unison, and disco’s were all the rage.

My local youth club took place at Heeley Bank School, a historic, Grade II-listed former board school — that is sadly not being utilised as it should be. It’s a beautiful building. I only ever went there back in the mid-90s and after starting secondary school never went back.

What was your local youth club, is it still going? Do you have any good memories or even pictures from those days? Feel free to send me an email and share your stories and photos from those days.

Can you recognise anyone you know in our retro photo gallery?
