Sheffield nostalgia show gives A Salute to the 1940s

Shefield’s award-winning Vera Lynn tribute performer Lorrie Brown is on stage at the city’s Merlin Theatre on Sunday, October 20 in nostalgic show A Salute to the 1940s.

Lorrie, who has been endorsed by Dame Vera herself, will performing some of the favourite songs of the Forces Sweetheart.

The show includes tributes to many other stars of the 40s including George Formby, Gracie Fields, The Andrews Sisters and Frank Sinatra in his GI days.

There are also performances of Whispering Grass by Lofty and Sgt Major from TV comedy It Ain’t Half Hot Mum, as well as a mention of the entertainers from World War One.

Tony Martin, who performs as GI Frank Sinatra, has appeared in Las Vegas and the West End.

The show is at the Nether Edge theatre at 2pm.
