These black and white photos of Castle Market, Rag ‘n’ Tag and Sheaf Market take you back in time to when people used to do much of their daily and weekly shopping with smaller market traders.
Nowadays many people do their shopping at larger supermarkets, but these pictures take us back to another time when fishmongers, butchers and more used to populate the stalls across Haymarket, Exchange Street, King Street and Dixon Lane.
As a child it was a weekly trek to Castle and Sheaf Market with my mother to visit the stalls there for our food for the week.
This retro photo gallery shows what it looked like at Sheffield's old Castle Market, Rag ‘n’ Tag and Sheaf Market in 24-photos taken over the 1960s, 70s and 80s.
