You can almost smell the coffee in these nostalgic photos, showing some of the most popular cafes and coffee houses during the 1960s and 70s.
Those vital pit stops that kept the city moving back then included the Mikado, the Copper Kettle, Dainties, the Mustard Seed, and the Cosy Cafe, opposite Sheffield railway station.
They all feature in this retro photo gallery, along with many other much-loved places of yesteryear at which to grab a cuppa and a bite to eat.
Most of these cafes and coffee houses have long since shut their doors, but a few are still keeping us fed and watered all these years later.
These photos are sure to bring back memories for many readers of their favourite cafes. It’s not just the food and drink you will recall, but also the happy times spent there with friends and fellow patrons.
As well as the cafes mentioned above, the coffee houses pictured include one located in an old cinema, another within Sheffield’s lost Victoria railway station, and a third at the city’s Playhouse theatre.
