In these 41 retro photos of the city centre we take a wander down memory lane.
The city of Sheffield has changed quite a bit from the 1980s, hasn’t it? Many of you will remember travelling on the Cityliner bendibus, which would always struggle on the city’s roundabouts.
Do you remember the Bandstand in The Moor? Did you ever play giant draughts on The Moor? Or, how about the Brick Trams with the raised planters?
So many things that were once so common seem like such a distant memory today. For example the kiosks, like the one at the bottom of The Moor and the one at Fitzalan Square. How many more of those can you recall?

One of my most-missed shops in the city-centre, barring Redgates (because everyone says “Redgates”), has to be Sugg Sports – It was a treasure trove of footie shirts from teams across the country and an eye-boggling selection of football boots.
What memories do you have of going ‘down town’ from this era? What is it that you miss most?
