Named after the Earl of Hillsborough in 1779, Hillsborough came to the fore at the turn of the 20th century as Sheffield industry boomed, and was one of the first parts of Sheffield to get electric trams in 1903.
There are plenty of notable landmarks in the area as well, from Hillsborough Barracks, which were used as an army base from the mid-1800s right up until 1930. Before being sold to a gravy company, before eventually becoming home to a shopping complex in the early 1990s when Morrisons moved in.
The 1990s were a big decade for Hillsborough and Sheffield. The Supertram was being built across parts of the city, Sheffield Wednesday won the Rumbelows Cup Final in 1991, and Euro 96-fever came to the city.
What do you remember about the 1990s in Hillsborough? Did you live in Hillsborough or work at one of the shops?
