The nostalgic images capture scenes around Yorkshire during July and August in the early 70s.
Children are shown enjoying a kickabout on the street, with the school gates behind them locked for the summer holidays, playing on the village green outside the pub, and zooming down a huge slide on the promenade.
Cub Scouts are seen having the time of their lives at summer camp, youngsters are entertained by the barrel organ man and his performing monkeys, and families are pictured splashing around in a huge paddling pool.
Some of the more unusual images include a hosedown for the stone lions guarding the town hall, a hot air balloon ready for lift-off, and a huge turnout for an It’s a Knockout competition in the local park.
This retro photo gallery also shows some of the best-loved shops of the early 70s, and the cars you might remember driving, and players from Leeds United and Sheffield United being put through their paces during summer training.
Pretty Woman singer Roy Orbison is pictured meeting fans at a popular variety club, excavations are seen taking place at one of Yorkshire’s most historic sites, and a daredevil motorcyclist attempts to defy gravity as the crowd holds its breath during a gala display.
