These are 10 Sheffield pubs which have closed down over the years – how many do you remember?
1. Matilda Tavern, Matilda Street
Since closing down in 2005, the Matilda Tavern has become a site for street artists to run wild. There has been some interest in trying to redevelop the pub but it currently remains closed. Photo: © Glyn Baker (cc-by-sa/2.0)
2. The Rock Tavern, Dixon Lane
Now home to a butcher’s shop, the Rock Tavern was another spot where Sheffield’s rock fans used to let loose. It was closed in 1972. Photo: Will Larter
3. Turf Tavern, Handsworth Road
Closed down around 2014, the Turf Tavern suffered a similar fate to many other pubs in the city - not making enough profit to keep going. Photo: © JThomas (cc-by-sa/2.0)
4. The Queens Hotel
The Queens Hotel has been closed for a couple of decades and remains in a derelict state. Photo: © Stephen Richards (cc-by-sa/2.0)
