Asda customers can now book their Christmas food deliveries, with priority access available a week before slots open to everyone else.

Asda has opened its Christmas delivery slots today (Tuesday, October 13), giving millions of shoppers the chance to get their festive food shop organised more than two months before the big day.

But there's a catch for anyone hoping to beat the Christmas rush. Only customers with an Asda Delivery Pass can book their preferred delivery times this week, with everyone else having to wait another seven days.

The supermarket is offering customers the chance to reserve home delivery and Click & Collect slots for December 21, 22 and 23, covering the crucial final days before Christmas.

And with the most popular delivery times traditionally in high demand, shoppers who want to avoid a last-minute dash around the supermarket may want to act quickly.

When can you book an Asda Christmas delivery?

Asda has confirmed two key dates for customers planning their Christmas food shopping.

Delivery Pass members can book from Tuesday, October 13, while slots will open to all other customers on Tuesday, October 20.

Customers can reserve their preferred time through the Asda groceries website or the supermarket's app, although availability will depend on their location.

Christmas Eve delivery slots are also expected to be released closer to the time.

How much does an Asda Delivery Pass cost?

An Asda Delivery Pass starts at £3.95 per month, although this cheapest option is restricted to deliveries on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Customers wanting deliveries on any day of the week can choose an Anytime Delivery Pass, costing from £6.95 per month on a 12-month plan.

The membership removes individual delivery and collection charges on qualifying orders throughout the year and provides priority access to popular booking slots, including at Christmas.

A minimum £40 spend applies to home deliveries, while all slots remain subject to availability.

Can you change your Asda Christmas food order?

Shoppers don't need to finalise their entire Christmas food shop when reserving a delivery slot.

Asda allows customers to make changes to most grocery orders until 11pm on the evening before their scheduled delivery, making it easier to add forgotten essentials.

However, there is an important exception for special Christmas Food to Order products, including festive centrepieces.

These must be added to customers' baskets and checked out by December 15, after which they cannot be changed.

What about Tesco and Morrisons Christmas deliveries?

Asda is among several major supermarkets preparing for the Christmas shopping rush, with retailers competing to secure customers' biggest grocery orders of the year.

Tesco has announced plans for an additional 60,000 festive Food to Order delivery slots, while Morrisons is also extending its Christmas booking arrangements.

Shoppers planning to order their festive groceries online are being encouraged to check their supermarket's booking arrangements early, particularly if they need a delivery during the final few days before Christmas.
