Three of Yorkhire's Michelin starred restaurants are among the venues honoured on the list.

North Yorkshire out in front

The highly acclaimed York based pub and restaurant The Black Swan at Oldstead is the highest Yorkshire restaurant featured, coming in at number 21 on the list.

While it boasts a Michelin Star and 4 AA Rosette rating, The Black Swan prides itself on delivering more than just high quality food.

The focus of the eatery is all locally flavoured as it aims to offer diners a true reflection of Oldstead, with a traditional Yorkshire inspired menu crafted using ingredients grown and forage on the area.

The acclaimed eatery is headed by chef and owner Tommy Banks, who was Britain's youngest Michelin starred in 2013 and the winner of the Great British Menu for two consecutive years.

In October 2017, the restaurant was also named as the Travellers Choice Best Fine Dining Restaurant in the World by TripAdvisor.

The restaurant is Yorkshire's newest Michelin star venue, awarded in October 2015, and is headed by chef Michael O'Hare who has won praise for creating an innovative tasting menu, served in a modern environment inspired by the arts, music and contemporary culture.

York based restaurant Skosh, which serves a contemporary British menu with an international influence, is the only Yorkshire restaurant to be featured that doesn't hold a Michelin Star.

Ranked at number 81, the informal dining room won favour with readers and its high appeal can perhaps be credited to its serving of food in the form of small plates and snack, allowing diners to eat as much or as little as they please and enjoy a range of dishes in one sitting.

Completing the four Yorkshire venues is The Star Inn at Harome, which came in at number 88 on the list and is popular for both its locally flavoured menu and picturesque setting on the edge of the North York Moors National Park.

Bristol restaurant Casamia earned the number one spot on the list. A tasting menu at the intimate venue costs up to £118.

Speaking to Square Meal restaurant owner Peter Sanchez-Iglesias stated, 'We've always thought outside the box and questioned everything, down to the last little detail, to be able to make the restaurant into the dining experience we want it to be.

"This award shows that what we're doing could be even more incredible in the future, and it should encourage everybody to believe that you can have a number one restaurant based in Bristol."
