7 of the best pubs for craft beer in Sheffield

It's no surprise that as the real ale capital of the world, Sheffield has an embarrassment of riches when it comes to pubs and bars that specialise in craft beer.

There are, however, a select few establishments which are a step above the rest when it comes to their range of craft brews.

Hallamshire House

Situated in Crookesmoor, the Thornbridge Brewery owned Hallamshire House is never short of local students enjoying one of the sublime ales on offer.

The taps are constantly rotating with the Peak District brewery's latest efforts, as well as old favourites such as Jaipur - a punchy American style IPA, and Sequoia - a delicious amber ale.

The vibrant exterior of the Rutland Arms (look out for the drawing from local street artist Phlegm) is matched by its colourful selection of light, dark and amber ales behind the tavern's bar.

Offerings from the likes of Magic Rock, Mikkeler, and To Øl are available on tap at the Steel City favourite, and the pub's fridges are always packed with obscure new brews from the craft beer world.

The Kelham Island Tavern

Situated in the city's ale-soaked Kelham Island quarter is the local favourite Kelham Island Tavern.

The pub has won national CAMRA pub of the year twice and boasts 13 real ales, a craft keg beer - and a pub cat.

The Sheffield Tap isn't your typical train station boozer.
