Police seek viewers' feedback as 999 TV series comes to an end

South Yorkshire Police are calling on viewers to give their feedback on a reality TV show showing how officers deal with day to day crimes.

Channel 4 show 999: What’s Your Emergency? has captivated viewers over the last four weeks, showing officers tackling a number of incidents in Sheffield, Rotherham and Doncaster.

The series is set to return with further episodes later in the year – but police bosses are keen to hear what viewers made of the programme.

A spokesman said: “We’ve been reading your comments and this has given us a far better understanding of what you need to see more of from us – and we know that you all loved Nick from the first episode.

“We’re really keen to understand what impact a series like this can have on your opinion of South Yorkshire Police.

The four part programme has focused on topics such as fear of crime, sex offences and youth crime while this week’s episode focused on the moment the coronavirus pandemic first came to South Yorkshire and the impact it had on officers and the way they dealt with the crime.

The first episode also introduced viewers to Doncaster man Nick who was living in fear after a number of burglaries at his shared house.

A crowdfunding campaign was even set up to help him after the episode aired.
