Remembering Harvey Willgoose: Pictures show life of 'cheeky' Sheffield teen on the anniversary of his death

People across Sheffield are pausing today to remember the life of a teenage boy whose death last year rocked the city.

A year ago today, 15-year-old Harvey Willgoose went to school only to never return.

The ‘cheeky’ Sheffield United superfan was stabbed at All Saints Catholic School in a horrific attack that sent the whole city into mourning.

Hundreds turned out for the teenager’s funeral, including then-Home Secretary Yvette Cooper, while nationally it spurred on conversations around the danger of knife crime.

Now, a year on from his death, and mum Caroline Willgoose has shared a number of pictures with The Star to show the life of they young boy who was described as having a ‘warm and caring nature’, and ‘cheeky’ sense of humour.

Caroline herself said that the event was ‘printed’ on her mind, and a year on she still feels the pain of his loss.

“I can’t believe it’s nearly a year since I last saw him,” she told The Star.

“It’s actually getting worse, not easier, because we’re missing him more.

“We’ve had the trial, then my dad passing away, and it just doesn’t feel real that it’s been a year.

“We’re just trying to carry on and make things better in Harvey’s name.”

The Star sends condolences to Caroline and Mark, the Willgoose family, and everyone missing Harvey today.
