Young dancers join professional stars on stage

Ten young Sheffield ballet dancers are appearing on stage in Buxton with the prestigious English Youth Ballet.

Francesca Beck, Hollie Kett, Eve Rodgers, Alice Watkinson, Emily Rowe, Kate Rhodes, Jasmin Daly, Lucy Rowe, Sophie Duffin and Isabella Hogg all won their places in the professional production through big auditions held in Buxton.

More than 150 young dancers performed for a chance of one of 84 roles for dancers aged eight t o 18.

EYB has helped many of the UK's top talent springboard their training progress and careers into some of the world's greatest ballet companies '“ including the Royal Ballet Company and English National Ballet.

Director and founder of EYB, Janet Lewis, said 'EYB is all about providing extra performance experience to young dancers.  We saw a very pleasing standard at the audition and it was lovely to see lots of enthusiasm.'

The double bill of Sleeping Beauty '“ Aurora's Wedding & Ballet Études at Buxton Opera House on Friday, October 19 and Saturday 20 will star international principal dancers  Philip Tunstall, Monica Tapiador, Samantha Camejo, Clair Corruble and Oliver Speers.
