The epic story of Life of Pi is being brought to the Crucible stage next year.
It’s been announced by Sheffield Theatres this week as the final show to complete the 2018/19 Crucible season.
Life of Pi comes to the Crucible theatre from June 27 to July 20.
After a cargo ship sinks in the middle of the vast Pacific Ocean, there are five survivors stranded on a single lifeboat – a hyena, a zebra, an orangutan, a 16-year-old boy and a hungry Bengal tiger.
Time is against them and nature is harsh, so who will survive?
This new stage adaptation by Lolita Chakrabarti of Yann Martel’s Man Booker Prize-winning novel, which was also made into a hit 2012 film, is a world première production.
Also new to the line-up for 2019 is The Department of Distractions in the Crucible Studio, a co-production by Third Angel and Northern Stage in association with Sheffield Theatres.
This conspiracy theory story looks at snags in the fabric of everyday life that make you think, what’s going on there...? It’s in the Studio from January 25 to February 2.
Tickets for all newly-announced productions will go on general sale on Saturday, October 27 at 10am.
