Sheffield musician Richard Hawley celebrates his 20th year as a solo artist with two exciting projects.

His musical, Standing at the Sky’s Edge, premieres at the Crucible in Sheffield next week and he’s just announced that his eighth studio album, Further, will be released on June on his new label, BMG.

Further marks a departure for Richard who has named all his albums after Sheffield icons or landmarks.This time he wanted something that would capture the intention of moving forward without jettisoning his past.

He said: “I really wanted to challenge myself to try to keep things relatively up-tempo and keep the songs to about three minutes long. I was asking myself ‘Can you get your message across like a bullet? Can you still do that?’ It’s quite a tough question to ask.”
