Lord Mayor Magid Magid has invited Sheffield to the cinema

In a unique move, Magid Magid tweeted “So I've just booked my ticket for this Sunday, 20:30 at @showroomcinema. Meet at the cafe at 19:30 for some pre drinks. Hope to see as many of you there as possible” He then attached a photo of his seat booked in an almost empty cinema for a screening of Mamma Mia.

Within seconds, people were tweeting from around the world. Mischa Henckel tweeted back: “Okay bruv we need you in Los Angeles. Just have to say how thrilling it is to watch young people, like you, show up and take the lead. Pure awesomeness.”

Harriet Cross replied: “Saw it last week. It’s awesome! Come to Boston MA for your movie night and I’ll see it again with you!”

Jo Rodgers added: “As a native born but no longer resident Sheffielder can I just say how much I love @MagicMagid? A whole bunch of strangers are going to have fun on Sunday.”

Rows around Magid’s seat quickly booked up and even the Showroom Cinema joined in the party. The venue tweeted: “For everyone who’s coming to our Mamma Mia 2 screening on Sunday with @MagicMagid, we’ve reserved a big table for everyone to come congregate around! Magid, you can squat on the seats, it’s cool.”
