English folk music performer and composer Hannah James has combined her music and dance skills for a show by her Jigdoll Ensemble at Firth Hall, Sheffield tomorrow, Thursday (Nov 22).
Singer, accordionist and champion clog dancer Hannah, who has appeared on stage with The Levellers, Maddy Prior and Seasick Steve among others, was featured on Jools Holland’s TV Hootenanny show on New Year’s Eve 2016 after the TV presenter saw her perform.
The Jigdoll Ensemble arises from Hannah’s one-woman show, Jigdoll, fusing modern dance and clog dance with a soundscape of her music.
Hannah’s new international band line-up is made up of Scotland’s Kate Young on fiddle, Estonian bassist Marti Tarn and Hungarian percussionist Andras Des,
She performs both original music inspired by tradition and dance on stage in this unique show, which forms part of the current season of University of Sheffield concerts.
