Don't be an armchair non voter

People are being urged to use their vote in the forthcoming local and Mayoral elections in South Yorkshire.

John Mothersole, chief executive of Sheffield Council, has urged people not to be “armchair non voters”. He says it takes one minute to mark an X and it’s “dead easy”.

In Sheffield and Barnsley there are local elections on Thursday, May 3.

Sheffield, Rotherham, Doncaster and Barnsley will all vote in elections on the same day for the first ever Sheffield City Region Mayor.

In the video, Mr Mothersole says: “We are 100 years from when women started to get the vote so I can’t think of a better way of celebrating and honouring that than by turning out to vote.

“Voting is a right and a responsibility. We all have opinions on how things should be done - don’t be an armchair voter.”
