Simpson clobbered an amazing 30 sixes and nine boundaries as he rattled up the astonishing total of 237 not out.

And his massive tally – the Money Map Alliance Midweek Cricket League’s first-ever double century – came off just 62 deliveries.

It saw Collegiate post a gigantic score of 304-0, another league record, in their 12 eight-ball overs Premier Division match against Khan.

Simpson’s astonishing display whipped up a social media storm as the cricketing fraternity gave him a collective pat on the back.

On twitter, Eddie Rapper posted: “Amazing performance!” while David Seal described Simpson’s achievement as “Mental”.

Sam Varley said the feat left him “Speechless” while Nick Varley added: “Absolutely unreal, staggering doesn’t come close. I hope Mike gets the publicity he so deserves”.

Nick Davis thought the knock was “ Incredible at any level of the game”.
