The old private members club, at the junction of Wilson Road and Ecclesall Road, will become another bar on the popular street.

There had been objections to the plans from Broomhill and Sharrow Vale Councillor Magid Magid who said local residents were worried about traffic, parking and noise.

The Botanical Area Community Association and the Endcliffe Corner Community Organisation were also concerned about noise late at night.

Council officers told a meeting of the planning board that an original application for late-night opening had been amended and the bar would now close at the same time as neighbouring venues.

Councillors approved the plans.
