Amazing versatility of Sheffield one-man show

Review: I’m full of awe for Neil Gore at pulling off such a great and complicated show, his one-man adaptation of the much-loved socialist novel The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists, depicting life for workers in Edwardian England.

Neil could have made life easier for himself with a simpler show but he pulled off a great performance while changing scenery and lighting, running magic lantern slide shows, doing magic tricks and playing three instruments!

The various characters were deftly created with a change of hat or pipe and a bit of characterisation.

He got three volunteers on stage to help with The Great Money Trick, where socialist decorator Frank Owen demonstrates to his workmates how capitalists use money to keep the rest of us poor.

A fantastic evening’s entertainment all round in the intimate surroundings of the Lantern Theatre, Nethwer Ege, Shefield.
