Doncaster theatre Cast has produced a new show looking at the devastation caused by the collapse of the mining industry.

The Last Seam brings to life the real, powerful voices of the mining community.

Marking the closure of one of the last deep seam mines, Hatfield Main Colliery, the world premiere production uncovers and preserves the emotional stories behind Britain's colliery heritage.

Insightful, honest and at times humorous, this verbatim piece, gathered from conversations with miners and their families across South Yorkshire, really gets to the heart of the community, from the courageous women who protested to the resilient men who risked it all.

The Last Seam is at Cast, Doncaster this week until Saturday (September 22).

After that, the show is off on a national tour until October, starting at community venues throughout South Yorkshire to Leeds, Wakefield, Newcastle and Sunderland.
