Operator suspends ALL bus services in Sheffield as snow causes traffic chaos

Bus drivers are testing out routes for safety as snow falls across South Yorkshire this morning.

In a tweet to bus passengers, Stagecoach Yorkshire said: “Stagecoach services in Sheffield suspended from 1020am due to road conditions. Sorry for any inconvenience caused.

First South Yorkshire said they are experiencing severe disruption across the network due to the adverse weather conditions.

But Travel South Yorkshire has already issued details on a number of cancellations and disruptions to services:

Stagecoach Yorkshire 1 – going up Wakefield Road then left down Shaw Lane to Four Lane Ends.

Stagecoach Yorkshire 12 – missing Carlton Hill, diverting via Wakefield Road/ Rotherham Road

Stagecoach Yorkshire 43 and 44 – not serving Worsbrough Common/Woodland Drive.

First South Yorkshire, Stagecoach Yorkshire 57 and Stagecoach Yorkshire sl1, sl1a – services using main roads (Manchester Road) only.

Stagecoach Yorkshire 59, 59a – missing Norton, going straight down main road

Stagecoach Yorkshire 6 – turning around at Kendray Medical Centre.

Stagecoach Yorkshire 66 – missing Jump and Elsecar; instead, it is turning around at Hoyland.

Stagecoach Yorkshire 67, 67a, 67c – missing Worsbrough Village and Pilley.

Stagecoach Yorkshire x10 – not serving Kexborough.

Stagecoach 25 – not serving Chadwick Road, diverting via Nodder Road in both directions. Terminating at Mother Redcap.

Stagecoach 7 – Unable to use Granville Road. Operating as Service 120.

Stagecoach 120 – missing Birley Spa Lane, using Donetsk Way in both directions.

Stagecoach 52 – terminating at Broomhill.

First South Yorkshire has also issued details on some disrupted services.

The X78 is unable to serve Conisbrough; the 15 is unable to serve Roberts Roads in Doncaster.

Its 75 and 76 services are terminating at Firth Park in Sheffield and cannot serve Shiregreen.

The 51 and 120 are terminating at Crosspool and Ranmoor.

A Yellow weather warning for snow and ice across Yorkshire is in place until 9pm tonight.

Barnsley Council said: “Please drive carefully and leave plenty of journey time. We're treating the roads again this morning, but please bear with us while we cover primary routes.

"Please help our teams by leaving enough space between parked cars for our gritters to get through.”
