'Zombies' roaming Walton Works

A group which plays war and horror games at Walton Works has been told it can continue to do so until work starts to transform the site.

The group's 40 members dress up as characters - including zombies - and gather at the derelict location off Chatsworth Road, Chesterfield.

In January, Chesterfield Borough Council's planning committee unanimously backed a masterplan to transform the site with hundreds of new homes, retail units, offices and a pub.

A council spokesman said today: "We've told the group that it can continue its activities until work begins to redevelop the site.

"After that, they'll be allowed to go to other locations in Chesterfield."
