Eight youths are to be banned from a new Sheffield shopping centre in a crackdown on anti-social behaviour.

Police have identified the youths as being responsible for throwing items into shops at the Fox Valley shopping centre in Stocksbridge and swearing at and being abusive to staff.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "Action is being taken as a result of an incident on November 23, where young people were involved in anti-social behaviour - throwing items in the shops and swearing and being abusive to staff.

"PCSOs have identified the youths involved and are currently preparing eight parent advisory letters, which will be issued along with a six month banning letter from the site.

"Parent advisory letters are the initial steps that can be taken by us to advise parents that their children are acting in an anti-social manner."This has been done in conjunction with security at the Fox Valley Centre."
