SOUTH Yorkshire members of the UK Youth Parliament are travelling to Leeds at the weekend for the body’s annual sitting to debate current issues and set policies for the next year.

Among those heading to the event, between July 22 and 24, are Harrison Carter, who represents Sheffield.

He said: “The Youth Parliament use the annual sittings to promote their campaigns for young people and to demonstrate the principle of youth involvement in our democracy. They intend to reassert themselves as the democratic voice of young people in Britain, who today feel under attack by disproportionate cuts to youth services, education and employment prospects.”
