Among the issues discussed were employment prospects for young people, the living wage and how to improve the level of engagement with young people from across the borough.

Mr Miliband said: “Today’s young people are the decision-makers of tomorrow, so it’s vital they are encouraged to get involved in the democratic process.

“It’s also important young people voice their opinions about the things that matter to them, nationally and here in Doncaster, and that those opinions are listened to.”

The UK Youth Parliament is made up of around 600 members, aged between 11 and 18. MYPs represent constituencies in the same way as MPs in the House of Commons.

They meet regularly to hold debates and plan campaigns at venues including the House of Commons.
