Youth Council set to expand

Have your say

Young people have been discussing their ideas to improve Doncaster, and finding out more about how to get involved in local democracy.

The event at the Carr House Centre, part of Local Democracy Week, was attended by 86 young people who met youth councillors, a cabinet member, ward members and council staff who provide services for children and young people.

They had the chance to talk about issues in their area and their ideas for improving things with their local councillors and youth councillors.

Youth councillors spoke about their work and 30 young people wanting to take their first step into politics have been co-opted onto this year’s youth council to give them a taste of what it is like before deciding if they want to stand for election next summer.
