Recent OECD figures showed the ratio of workers in employment in the more economically developed European nations (2013).The figures were most revealing.
Topping the list came Switzerland and Norway at 79.3 per cent and 75.4 per cent, respectively. (Neither, of course, is in the EU.)
So what were the figures for the European Union? – A truly miserable 64 per cent – and even worse in the Eurozone.
As one of the world’s larger economies, the UK managed to be just under 71 per cent – not terrible but not massively impressive either.
So. Should we be copying the successful nations or sticking to the tried and mistrusted EU? – We are to be given the choice!
