No deterrent

Have your say

I have to admit that I found myself in agreement with parts of Councillor Sioned Mair Richards letter in which she stated that the death penalty is not a deterrent.

I agree wholeheartedly it isn’t but it does ensure that a released killer won’t reoffend (which they quite often do), and the public purse isn’t drained by keeping the inhuman on full life tariffs that cost a fortune to fulfil, I would much rather see some of our most evil and depraved prisoners swinging on the end of a length of good hemp rope and the money saved spent on youth and environmental projects. I would even offer my services as the man to put the hood on the criminal and then pull the lever.
