EU law does not ban dredging of rivers, (M Hobson, January 14).
In fact the Environment Agency has spent more than £20 million on dredging over the past two years.
And EU law is not dictated to us, but agreed by EU governments and MEPs – our own included.
UK civil servants and ministers are constantly involved in shaping and deciding EU laws.
There are things within EU policy that need reform, just as there is much about our own government’s policies that leave much to be desired.
But let’s not blame the EU for all our problems like the recent floods.
