HENDERSON’S Relish? Whatever.
Students at a Sheffield school have got saucy by cooking up this concoction which they hope will rival the city’s best kept dining secret.
The Silverdale pupils – Chris Parker, Callum Clark, Akash Hashmi, Tom Armes and Matt Pierce – will sell the Ding Sauce in aid of Hunter’s Bar based charity Neurocare.
The year 10 students have produced 200 jars to flog at a barbecue following the annual fundraising Head Start 5k run next weekend. And if it goes well? Then the lads might just consider doing more.
“We were told about the race and barbecue by a school mentor,” says Chris, 15. “And making a sauce seemed easier than running.”
Easier perhaps but tastier too.
The dressing, made in the kitchens of the Bents Green school, contains Tabasco, tomatoes, chilli and... a secret ingredient.
“I’m not sure what that secret ingredient is,” says Emma, fundraiser with Neurocare. “But it has a kick all right. Is it as nice as Henderson’s? This won’t make me very popular in Sheffield but I’m saying yes.”
The Head Start 5k run takes place on Sunday, April 15, 10am in Rother Valley Country Park. A lunch time barbecue takes place after. Visit www.neurocare.org.uk
