IF the streets, playing fields and gennels of a new TV advert seem a little familiar that’s because they probably are.
The Robinsons fruit drink commercial, currently showing on national prime time, was filmed around the Bents Green area of Sheffield by city film company Warp.
Directed by Bafta-winning This Is England creator Shane Meadows, it shows three children taking glasses of squash around their neighbourhood to see how much they can get from one bottle of the new Robinsons Double Concentrate.
But why Bents Green?
Apparently because it captures that semi-nostalgic, community feeling associated with the cordial.
“Shane knows the people and area extremely well because he shot a lot of This Is England around there,” says Glenn Paton, producer with agency Bartle Bogle Hegarty. “Many of the actors come from the area too.”
It was filmed in February and is showing around the UK and Ireland now.
