SOME of the planet’s most famous chins might be in line for a treat anytime soon - if Neil Edwin Jagger has anything to do with it...

Neil, the owner and boss of Sheffield’s English Shaving Company has been asked to supply some of his high-class Edwin Jaggerproducts to the prestigious Toronto Film Festival later this month.

That means that the likes of Johnny Depp, Tom Hanks, Colin Firth and Dustin Hoffman may soon be using shaving equipment made in Sheffield and in increasing demand around the world.

The Sheffield company’s chance came after a Canadian on-line shaving supplier contacted Jagger’s Shalesmoor office to tell them some of their products had been chosen for the event.

“We had an excited e-mail from one of our distributors in Canada who seems to be well-connected as a barber and has a lot of good contacts,” said Neil.

“The actors who come to the festival will all be getting goodie bags of stuff and some of our products will be among them. The Canadian supplier is sending razors and we’re busy getting ready shaving cream, soaps, after-shaves and other goodies in our own carrier bags to go out there too.” If that sounds like a sweet deal then the future could smell even sweeter.

A major film director - as yet un-named - is to use Edwin Jagger products in his films. The director - who has worked with megabucks Avatar and Titanic director James Cameron - wants to feature The English Shaving Company’s stuff in his films, a so-called ‘product placement’ deal that could be a huge boost for Edwin Jagger sales around the world.

Not that they aren’t booming as it is.

Last year the Shalesmoor company sales grew by 35 per cent and this year they are on track to do even better. Their ony production problem is keeping up with orders from around the world.

“Product placement in movies and on TV is such a big thing in the states and it absolutely make a business with the right associations,” said Neil Jagger.

“We will have to wait and see what happens but it is something we are very happy about at this stage.”

Quite right too though Edwin Jagger products are already known to Sheffield theatre-goers.

The razors for the Sweeney Todd production at the Lyceum last year were made by Edin Jagger - though there was a certain amount of pain involved in their treatment.

“Joth Davies at Savill’s Barber’s in Sheffield does all the period haircuts for the actors appearing at Sheffield Theatres amnd they needed some barber equipment for the production and they saw Edwin Jagger items in his shop.

“Joth contacted me and we supplied them with some of our precision ground cut-throat razors which they promptly ground the edges off so they would be safe to use on stage without someone losing an ear or part of their nose!”

The Toronto Film Festival starts on Thursday and will be attended by some of the biggest names in the film industry.

Though the Jagger gear will allow all of them to get a high-class chin scrape, there may be stubble ahead.

“If the shaving equipment is not appropriate for any of the guests they can pass them on to someone who might appreciate them,” added Neil.

We might just find that a few pairs of million-dollar legs - Penelope Cruz, Kristen Stewart and Gwyneth Paltrow are all expected at the festival - might be prepared for the red carpet with the graceful glide of a Jagger razor...
