IT was the news, revealed by The Diary, that knocked Sheffield sports fans (at least the blue half of them) for six - The Wednesday Cricket Club is to be reformed.

The side, originally founded in 1820 and the forerunner to the football team, is being reconvened 87 years after it played its last game.

Now, for those wanting to sample a little bit of city sporting history, the official reformation meeting will take place next Thursday at - where else? - Hillsborough.

Begins 7.15pm. Membership to be available from £10.

The first match - a friendly against Thorncliffe Cricket Club at their Chapeltown ground - will take place the following Sunday from 2pm.

AND talking of sport, it’s men not allowed at a new fitness boot-ique camp for women.

Katie Ford, officially the best Fitness First gyms personal trainer in the UK, is running the classes in Stannington Park, Sheffield.

Chocs at Cheese

IT’S known as the cheese grater but motorists parking up at Sheffield’s Charles Street car park this Easter will be given complimentary chocolate.

The free eggs will be dished out to drivers over the Bank Holiday weekend.
