Thorncliffe Health and Leisure Centre is a waste of money.
OK, the swimming baths and gym may be doing well, but the rest is a white elephant.
Before they fenced the ground off the area was like a holiday place.
There wasn’t a day passed without lads playing football or cricket, dog walkers galore.
In the summer holidays it was just like a holiday camp, kids and parents having picnics, games galore, cricket, football even baseball.
To say nothing of the wild life, we have more than 100 birds, all different species, rabbits and many other animals.
Now it’s like walking past a grave yard.
I go round every day and the only activity I’ve seen is football on Saturday and Sunday, paid for no doubt when before everything was free.
I was born in High Green in 1938 so I think I know and the rest of the older residents know this to be right. It’s heartbreaking.
I don’t live in the past I am seeing life as it is now.
