IT was taken by an amateur photographer on a day off from work but this first class picture of our first class city so impressed officials it is now set to adorn the walls of Sheffield’s first room - the Lord Mayor’s Parlour.
Software engineer John Scholey snapped his panorama from above the train station after dropping his wife off there last June.
And when former Lord Mayor Alan Low and his entourage saw it at an amateur snappers exhibition, they fell in love with the picture and asked for copies. It is now to be hung up at the Town Hall next to a picture of the Queen in Sheffield.
“It’s just amazing to think it will be seen by so many important people and have such a prestigious spot,” smiles John, aged 62, of Clifford Road, Nether Edge, Sheffield.
“It took about an hour to take because I wanted to get it just right and have a tram in it to give it that unmistakably Sheffield feel.
“It’s actually three pictures taken then stitched together. I feel so proud.”
