I always read my mucker, Vin Malone’s articles with interest and particularly enjoyed his recent piece on Reuben Thompson.
I’m surprised that Vin didn’t include the picture of Reuben plying his trade with the first motor taxi in Sheffield and taking the custom of Sir John Bingham, Conservative politician and donator of Bingham Park.
Was Sir John the man who persuaded Reuben to try his hand at politics?
The picture was taken in Fitzalan Square and indicates the former importance of the Square.
