Young Sheffield swimmers runners-up in UK's largest gala competition

A team of 21 young Sheffield swimmers were runners-up in the UK's largest swimming gala championships.

The national championships of the UK’s largest swimming gala were held over the weekend in at the London Aquatics Centre Olympic Pool.

Despite their fantastic performance, the team from Sheffield narrowly missed out on the top prize, but performed brilliantly nonetheless.

Everyone who competed in the swim gala took home a medal, which was presented to them by Olympic silver medallist, Michael Jamieson.

Robert B. Cook, of Virgin Active UK, who hosted the competition, said: “I’m thrilled that so many children are getting involved in the competition, improving their swimming ability and confidence as well as keeping active."
