Young Sheffield boxer grabs another gold on the way to Tokyo 2020

The highly-ambitious youngster was a gold medal winner over the weekend in the 46th edition of the Golden Gong in Skopje, Macedonia - despite admitting to feeling under the weather.

Smith (64kg) never gets tired of winning medals as he pursues his Olympic dream.

He posted on Instagram: “Another GOLD is coming home to Sheffield. I’ve just won the final winning all three rounds.

“Didn’t feel my best in there...came here feeling ill. But I got in there and it paid off thanks again for all your support #tokyo2020.”

Steel City boxer Smith is a five times national champion and is ranked number five in the world.

Last week, the much-travelled prospect came first in his division in Warsaw at the annual Feliks Stamm Memorial tournament. Then he told The Star: ““Things are going well for me at the minute. I’m learning all the time and these are the events where you learn plenty.”
