Young musicians hit high note in exams

ALMOST 200 young musicians who study with the Doncaster Music Service have passed their summer term instrumental music exams.

Results so far show 189 pupils have passed their exams at grade one to grade eight, with many achieving high levels of distinction.

Together with the 165 who have already taken and passed exams during the past academic year, the local education authority-run Music Service’s total is 354 students who have been awarded a graded music exam from some the country’s leading music colleges.

“I would like to offer my congratulations to all music students, and to the council’s music staff for their excellent teaching, support and guidance to young people in Doncaster.”

The Doncaster Music Service is based at William Appleby Music Centre on Danum Road, and is this year celebrating its 75th anniversary.
