A ‘FRIGHTENING’ amount of young people in Sheffield feel they cannot cope with day-to-day life, a new report warns.
The Prince’s Trust Youth Index, published today, reveals that 13 per cent of the city’s 16 to 25-year-olds feel the same way.
It also claims that more than one in five do not have someone to talk to about their problems.
Nearly a third believe their prospects have been permanently damaged by the recession and a quarter that they have no future because of it. Those not in education or employment are significantly less happy across all areas.
Jonathan Townsend, trust regional director, said: “A frightening number of unemployed young people in Sheffield feel unable to cope – and it is particularly tough for those who don’t have a support network in place.
“But, with the right support, we can help get these lives on track.”
