CHILDREN are thought to responsible for causing a field fire in South Yorkshire countryside.
The fire, in a corn field off St Helen’s Avenue in Cudworth, was reported at around 7.30pm on Tuesday. Firefighters from Cudworth station used water back packs and beaters to extinguish the blaze.
Meanwhile, a wheelie bin was deliberately set on fire in Wordsworth Drive, Southey Green, at around 9.30pm the same evening.
Firefighters from Elm Lane attended. No one was injured and there was no damage to properties nearby.
And a large pile of waste was set alight on an allotment in Thurnscoe Lane, Great Houghton, at around 4.20pm on Tuesday.
Fire crew from Dearne Station attended.
The fire was caused deliberately, firefighters say.
