Yorkshire and Derbyshire League: Hathersage cause champion upset over Parkhead

As this somewhat soggy season reaches the mid-point, Hathersage caused the first big upset of the summer in Division One.

They posted a useful 165-9 (C Turner 3-26) at home against reigning champions Parkhead who, at 100-1, were cruising to another easy win.

Then their talisman Jamie Carrington was dismissed for 64, and they collapsed to 137 all out.

The result sees Hathersage climb out the relegation zone and Parkhead are in danger of slipping off the pace at the top as leaders Holmesfield remain unbeaten.

Their opponents Sheffield Civil Service scored 148-8 (S Frier 47 J Rochel 40) and Holmesfield eased to a seven-wicket win (T Brown 44).

De La Salle hit a very impressive 211-8 (T Barney 47* S Wainwright 42), then skittled struggling Stocksbridge for just 55 (G Hunt 4-14 S Willey 4-17). Relegation threatened Sheffield Collegiate VP mustered just 91 (C Stewart 43 C Marsh 4-31), but made title chasing Hollinsend Meths fight for every run before they ran out winners by three wickets (T Wellman 4-12).

With the Division Two top of the table match between TRS and leaders Sheffield Centralians lost to the weather, the chasing pack had the chance to close the gap. Totley Bent scored 183 all out (Altaf 44 Newton 4-33) and held Hundall to 107-9 (Abid 4-27).

Sheffield Medics hit a useful 219-4 (R Ivaturi 92 S Rajebhosale 62*), but Hallam III responded with steady all round batting to run out winners by four wickets and move up to second ahead of TRS.

After a shaky start, Calver are climbing the table. They made 151 all out (W Forsdike 6-41) and then sent back bottom team Parkhead II for 108 (D Harlington 4-19). Ashford in the Water versus Hollinsend Meths II succumbed to Friday night’s deluge.
