A Yorkshire airport hit all the right notes for Beyoncé

The Yorkshire airport was selected as one of just two UK locations capable of handling the delivery of two 747s, each filled with 100 tonnes of large and complicated freight items.

The two cargo planes operated by Atlas Air recently arrived at DSA from the USA in preparation for the start of the artist’s European tour which begins at the Stadium of Light in Sunderland.

Dayle Hauxwell, cargo manager at Doncaster Sheffield Airport, said: “It’s exciting for us to be working with such a global artist and from the scale of the cargo, it seems that Beyonce fans are in for an incredible show.

“The complicated nature of the freight on board the two 747s meant a completely bespoke operation was required from start to finish. Each flight had 100 tonnes of freight on board and both required a specialised crane lift from the main deck of the plane, due to the size of the cargo.

“It was a job not many other UK airports are capable of delivering, so we’re enormously proud to have played our part. It’s testimony to the logistics and cargo handling capabilities of our team here at Doncaster Sheffield Airport.”

The arrivals were two of seven flights chartered by Beyoncé to the UK from the States.
