Yet another Doncaster cash machine targeted by raiders
Yet another cash machine has been targeted by robbers in an an overnight raid in Doncaster.
The thieves struck at the Spar store in Tickhill in the early hours - just hours after a cash machine was also attacked in Stainforth yesterday.
In recent weeks, cash machines have also been stolen or attacked in Hatfield, Crowle, Epworth, Blyth, Gainsborough, Harthill in Worksop, Misterton and South Cave.
Police have previously said they believe all the incidents are linked.
In the latest incident, the gang struck at around 3.30am at the store on Northgate. A digger is believed to have been used to wrench the cash machine from the wall before the thieves fled, abandoning the vehicle at the scene.
It is understood that police may have later launched a search in the Armthorpe area for a vehicle believed to have been involved in the crime.
The front of the store is believed to have been badly damaged in the incident.
It comes as detectives investigate the theft of an ATM from McColl’s newsagents in Thorne Road, Stainforth, which is reported to have taken place at around 3.50am on Monday.
A forklift-type vehicle was used to remove the cash machine from the wall of a building in Thorne Road, before being loaded onto a silver pick-up vehicle, which was driven off in the direction of Field Road.
